Ayubowan — Welcome to Ceylon

Sri Lanka, composed around you.

Private, tailor-made journeys through Sri Lanka — from the Sigiriya Rock Fortress and the misty tea trails of Ella to Yala’s leopards and the golden beaches of the south.

The Island

Four islands in one.

Few places on earth fold so much variety into so little distance. In a single unhurried journey, Sri Lanka carries you from ancient rock fortresses to cloud-wrapped tea country, from leopard-prowled jungle to empty golden coast.

We design every itinerary so you experience exactly the ones you came for.

Wild

Track leopards in Yala and elephant herds at Minneriya and Udawalawe, then watch blue whales surface off the southern coast.

Heritage

Climb the fifth-century Sigiriya Rock Fortress and wander the ruined royal cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa.

Scenic

Ride the highland railway past the Nine Arch Bridge into the misty tea gardens of Nuwara Eliya and Ella.

Bliss

Unwind on the palm-fringed sands of Mirissa, Unawatuna and Trincomalee, where warm ocean meets slow sunsets.

Frequently asked questions.

Still unsure about something? Our trip designers are happy to answer any question before you book.

What is the best time to visit Sri Lanka?

December to March is the best time for most travellers. During these months the west and south coasts and the Cultural Triangle enjoy their dry season, ideal for Sigiriya, Galle and the southern beaches. If you are heading to the east coast — Trincomalee or Arugam Bay — travel between April and September instead.

Do I need a visa for Sri Lanka?

Yes, most visitors need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before arrival. You apply online in a few minutes and approval usually arrives within 24 hours. The tourist ETA grants a 30-day stay and can be extended once you are in the country.

Is Sri Lanka safe for tourists?

Yes, Sri Lanka is generally very safe for tourists. Locals are famously warm and hospitable, and the main tourist regions are well established. Take the usual precautions with valuables, and travel with licensed guides and drivers — which every Heladiv Vacations tour provides.

How much does a private Sri Lanka tour cost?

A private, tailor-made tour with Heladiv Vacations typically starts from around USD 899 per person for a 7-day heritage trip, rising with the length of the itinerary and the standard of accommodation. Every quote is all-inclusive of a private car, chauffeur-guide, hotels and entrance fees, with no hidden extras.

What should I pack for Sri Lanka?

Pack lightweight, breathable cotton clothing for the tropical climate, plus modest attire that covers shoulders and knees for visiting temples. Add a light jacket or sweater for the cool evenings in the hill country around Nuwara Eliya and Ella, along with sunscreen, insect repellent and comfortable walking shoes.

How do you get around Sri Lanka?

The most comfortable way to travel is by private air-conditioned car with an English-speaking chauffeur-guide, which is included on our tours. The scenic train from Kandy to Ella is a memorable experience we build into many itineraries, and tuk-tuks are perfect for short local trips.
